I am a fully qualified counsellor with PGdip in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton and BA in Psychology and Sociology from Westminster University. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I undertake regular clinical supervision and a programme of continuing professional development. I am also a member of NCT (a national organisation for parents and parents to be), Roots of Empathy Programme Instructor – providing emotional support and understanding for primary age children (http://www.rootsofempathy.org/ ) and a Family Links Nurturing Programme’s Leader (http://familylinks.org.uk/).
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. As the name implies, Integrative Psychotherapy is a unique combination of many styles and techniques drawn from the Humanistic, Existential and Psychoanalytic Therapy approaches. It emphasises the uniqueness of the human being and focuses on creating a safe environment in which an individual may explore childhood experiences and whether/how these affect daily living.
My role involves creating an atmosphere of safety and acceptance. I see the therapy as a journey in which both therapist and client/patient are a team working together towards the same goals. Therefore my role is seen very much as a guide in the individual’s journey of self-recognition.
I work intuitively, often drawing from a large ‘toolbox’ of different skills and trainings, which include:
- Existential Therapy
- Solution Focus Therapy
- Client-Centred Counselling
- Art Therapy
- Drama Therapy
- Sand Play
I encourage each individual to recognise their potentials and choices. I therefore offer the client the opportunity for change if this is appropriate.
